When Indian village boy Samay goes to the cinema for the first time, he is completely enchanted! Against his strict father's wishes, he returns to the worn-out cinema the next day, even though the train journey there is many, many miles long. He has no money, but when the projectionist smells the delicious aroma of the food Samay's mother has prepared, he offers him a trade. Food for film! This marks the beginning of a warm friendship between Samay, the projectionist, and the magic of the silver screen, which inspires the poor boy to sketch out grandiose—but also very dangerous—plans...
