The tough young criminal Myggan escapes from prison, steals a gun, meets Laila, and falls instantly in love. Soon the couple is on the run from the law, and Myggan becomes increasingly desperate and reckless. When they crash into a tree, they flee from the police. Myggan shoots one of his pursuers and is now called "Valla-desperadon" in the press. Laila prostitutes herself to earn money. Together with his gay friend Tommy, Myggan fails to rob an elderly man. After a robbery, Myggan is chased by a huge police force and flees into the tunnels where the Slussen subway station is being built. Farlig frihet was actor Arne Ragneborn's directorial debut. He made a total of five feature films, all with the same theme - desperate youth, alcoholism, violence and crime. Farlig frihet was nearly banned by the Swedish Film Board, which found the film to be "pure speculation in cynicism." "Farlig frihet is a dangerous film."
