Three interconnected stories are told in separate timelines. A few men stand up in a place of death and make a very unexpected discovery. A mother and daughter with a strange relationship have a difficult encounter in a Budapest apartment. In Berlin, a teenage boy navigates the minefield that can be high school while love for a classmate blossoms. In screenwriter Kata Wéber and director Kornél Mundruczó's latest collaboration, we get a triptych of stories set in different eras but all in the shadow of World War II.'s latest collaboration, we are presented with a triptych of stories set in different eras, but all in the shadow of World War II and the Holocaust. The film's narrative depicts several generations of survivors and their ways of dealing with their heavy legacy. All of this is presented in three powerful long takes, masterfully photographed by Yorick Le Saux (Only Lovers Left Alive, Little Women).
