Envoy: Shark Cull (DVD)
In the 1930s, the Australian government launched an action program designed to control the shark population and secure popular beaches. What sounds noble in theory, protecting people from being eaten by sharks, has in practice caused untold damage to the marine environment and wildlife. The methods of trapping and baiting hooks are blunt instruments that are unfortunately still used today, killing large numbers of endangered dolphins and turtles, as well as individuals from other red-listed species. Envoy: Shark Cull shows the tragic reality behind the statistics and calls for action.
This powerful documentary was produced in collaboration with organizations such as Sea Shepherd, conservationists, and divers Ocean Ramsey and Madison Stewart. The narrator is Eric Bana, known from films such as The Dry, Hanna, Munich, and Finding Nemo.
