Shields Green was the son of an African king. But instead of becoming lord of his land, he was condemned to a life under the whip in slave-owning America. After his son was beaten when the slave owners discovered that he could read, Shields killed some of the tyrants in blind rage and managed to escape. Hunted by the most notorious bounty hunters in the West, he joins a group of white abolitionists and starts a revolt that will change history. This is the true story of slave rebel Shields Green, known to the people as EMPEROR. The title role is played by Dayo Okeniyi (Terminator: Genisys), and other roles are played by James Cromwell (Oscar nominee for Babe), Bruce Dern (Oscar nominee for Nebraska and The Return) and Ben Robson (The Boy).
