The oak is the king of trees and a symbol of strength and long life. It is the most powerful tree in our northern latitudes, associated by many with hope for the future generations. But the oak is not just a symbol; for many animals, it is the place they call home.

The Kingdom of the Oak is a lyrical and exciting tribute to the forest and its animals, featuring stunningly beautiful photography. We follow squirrels, frogs, insects, mice, deer, owls, wild boars, and many other animals through the changing seasons over the course of a year in and around a 210-year-old oak tree. All of life's trials and tribulations unfold here. The struggle for survival, problems with neighbors, solidarity, romance, and raising children.

Director Laurent Charbonnier is known for documentaries such as Migratory Birds and the César-nominated Animals in Love.
