During a dusty stagecoach ride, the deposed sheriff Clayton and the other passengers are attacked by gunmen looking for Vermeer, who is accused of murder. Convinced that Vermeer is innocent, Clayton kills the men and teams up with him. Their hunt for the real killer and the powerful family that deprived Clayton of his sheriff's badge sets new records for funeral homes!

Lee van Cleef, the greatest spaghetti star after Clint Eastwood, plays one of his most memorable roles here. The film is directed by Giancarlo Santi, Sergio Leone's assistant director on The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West, which is clearly evident in the film. It is difficult to understand why this was his first and only western.
