Den amerikanske vännen (DVD)
Jonathan should be a happy man. He has a wife and children and enjoys his small hair salon. But Jonathan suffers from a fatal blood disease. So when the mafia seeks out the quiet craftsman and offers him a contract killing, the answer is not at all obvious. The money will provide for his family after his death, and the person to be eliminated is just a gangster, a parasite. But why have they turned to him in particular? And who is the strange guy in the cowboy hat who keeps showing up around him? A man who calls himself Mr. Ripley...
Wim Wenders' multi-layered thriller was his breakthrough. The film is based on Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, whose books have been adapted for the screen by such greats as Hitchcock (Strangers on a Train), René Clement (The Hot Sun), Anthony Minghella (The Talented Mr. Ripley), and Todd Haynes (Carol).
”WENDERS' FILM TAKES ITS PLACE AMONG THE GREAT DETECTIVE CLASSICS. One of the most effective, frightening, and realistic thrillers ever made” DN
**** "AS SUBTLE AS HITCHCOCK. There is hardly a dull moment, hardly a frame that feels superfluous." Aftonbladet
