Crossing Delancey Blu-Ray

Joan Micklin Silver's wonderfully affectionate take on the romantic comedy brings a fresh, personal perspective to the genre by following an unmarried Jewish woman's search for fulfillment in New York City. Happy independent bookseller Izzy (a brilliant Amy Irving) isn't looking for love, but she is forced to reevaluate her desires when she catches the eye of two very different men: a self-centered novelist (Jeroen Krabbé) and the mild-mannered Lower East Side cucumber vendor (Peter Riegert) whom her old-fashioned bubbie (a scene-stealing Yiddish theater star Reizl Bozyk) brings her together with. Crossing Delancey is a love letter to 1980s Manhattan, filmed in beautiful autumn tones, and elegantly captures the magic of a city where different cultures, generations, and traditions both clash and unite.
