Our sixth journey into Columbia Pictures' film noir production takes a different path and makes a detour into Whistler's mysterious world as we present all eight films in the popular series.

In each episode, which is an adaptation of a successful radio series, Whistler emerges from the shadows and tells a nightmarish and twisted story in his own sardonic way. The first seven films star Richard Dix (It Happened in Hollywood). In The Whistler, a guilt-ridden man hires a contract killer to end his life... but discovers he cannot back out of the deal. In The Mark of the Whistler, a homeless man claims the money in an abandoned bank account, but discovers that the rightful owners are on his trail. In The Power of the Whistler, a man with amnesia must reconstruct his dark past using only the objects in his pockets. In Voice of the Whistler, a poor nurse marries her wealthy, terminally ill patient, but he defies the odds and recovers. In Mysterious Intruder, a private detective becomes involved in a murderous race to track down a missing girl and a lost fortune. In The Secret of the Whistler, a young bride suspects that her new husband may have murdered his first wife. In Dix's last film, The Thirteenth Hour, the owner of a trucking company is accused of a murder he did not commit. Finally, in The Return of the Whistler, Michael Duane plays the lead role as a man whose fiancée is abducted on the eve of their wedding. This important four-disc collection marks the British Blu-ray premiere of all eight films and includes a range of fascinating extras, including newly recorded commentaries, critics' reviews, rare archive footage, and a 120-page book.
