When BASIC INSTINCT premiered in theaters, it became the talk of the town. The sex scenes were more explicit than in any other thriller, and the shower scene quickly became one of the most talked-about in film history. The film was reviewed seven times by the MPAA in the US before a cut version managed to avoid being labeled pornographic, which did not prevent feminist and gay activists from protesting loudly against the film. In Sweden, a total of 600,000 moviegoers saw the film, which is now celebrating its 30th anniversary with a brand new, razor-sharp version restored in 4K under the supervision of director Paul Verhoeven. And of course, it is completely uncut!
