Over a period of five years, filmmaker Tom Löwe (Timescapes) has traveled to all corners of the world to document the grandeur of the small and the details of the monumental. From a field in the Netherlands to Dubai's towering skyscrapers and many places in between, his cameras capture nature and the passage of time, people at work, at rest and at play. Awaken is a direct descendant of the classic Koyaanisqatsi and, fittingly, has its director Godfrey Reggio as executive producer. Terrence Malick also serves in that role. Löwe has worked with both of them previously on films such as Visitors and Knight of Cups.
