After his entire family is slaughtered during the Nazi occupation of Poland, Michal (Leszek Teleszy?ski) decides to join the resistance movement but goes mad when he encounters a doppelganger of his murdered wife. The Devil is a violent tale of satanic seduction set during the Prussian invasion of Poland in the 17th century and was so controversial when it was released that it was banned for 16 years.
