A Story Written With Water Limited Edition Blu-Ray
Kiju Yoshida (Eros + Massacre), one of the leading names of the Japanese New Wave, broke with studio filmmaking for A Story Written With Water, his first independent production and the beginning of his characteristic style. Yoshida tells the story of a man torn between his fiancée and his family ties to his mother, creating a dazzling narrative that uses flashbacks to tell his story of obsession and longing. With the brilliant Mariko Okada as the mother, the acclaimed star of masterpieces such as Floating Clouds and Late Autumn, she would become Yoshida's muse in a series of the director's "anti-melodramas." Yoshida's unique visual sensibility and revolutionary exploration of cinematic codes place him among the foremost Japanese filmmakers of the postwar era. Radiance Films is proud to present A Story Written With Water on Blu-ray for the first time worldwide.
